Which anti-virus (AV) engine do you recommend for use with GWAVA?
You should use one of the AV NLMs currently supported by GWAVA-CA eTrust InoculateIT 4.5, eTrust 7.x, NAI Netshield 4.11/4.5/4.6, Symantec/ Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7/7.5/7.6/8.x, Command Interceptor, Command AntiVirus for NetWare 4.58, Trend Micro's ServerProtect for NetWare 3.71/5.0/5.1, Panda Antivirus 2.5 and Sophos Antivirus 3.x, Sophos SAVI; or any newer releases of these products. .

What is the difference between GWAVA and traditional antivirus products?
GWAVA is the only antivirus agent for GroupWise that decrypt and expose email messages for standard antivirus scanning. In addition to virus scanning, GWAVA offers email filtering functionality unparalleled by any other products available for GroupWise.

Why do I need GWAVA in addition to my current AV software?
GroupWise stores all email messages in an encrypted database. Since traditional virus scanners are unable to scan encrypted data, they are therefore unable to adequately protect your email system. GWAVA helps your AV software protect your network at a different level than otherwise possible. Because GWAVA identifies and quarantines email messages for scanning, it prevents the spread of viruses at a lower level in your network. In addition, since other email-specific AV products function at the Internet Gateway level of your network, they are only able to scan for viruses passing to and from the Internet. GWAVA's place on your MTA(s) allows it to not only scans messages passing to and from the Internet, it also prevent viruses from spreading within your corporation (from post office to post office).

Does GWAVA scan internal mail?
Yes, GWAVA does quarantine internal email for AV scanning. Any mail that is transferred through your MTA is moved to a temporary directory by GWAVA where it is then scanned by your AV NLM. GWAVA is also capable of full scans of an entire GroupWise 6.5 (or higher) Post Office database.

Why is GWAVA's pricing lower than most email security solutions?
GWAVA is a simple NLM installation and does not require additional hardware or firewall protection. It also takes advantage of your existing AV solution-no additional AV software is required.

How does GWAVA compare to other email scanning products?
It is far less server intensive, and it works at a much lower level-closer to the user-in your AV perimeter, to scan not only messages coming in from the Internet, but also messages sent and received within your domain(s).

How many licenses do I need to run GWAVA on my network?
GWAVA is licensed on a per-user basis.

Can I remotely monitor GWAVA?
Yes. Using RCONSOLE or RCONJ, you can monitor GWAVA from your workstation.

How much processing time does GWAVA take?
GWAVA's impact on your server is minimal. In normal conditions, GWAVA will not make a notable impact on your server performance.

What is the suggested retail price for GWAVA?
