Guinevere is designed to protect the GWIA Gateway- the first gate through which all email passes. As every inbound and outbound email passes through GWIA, Guinevere scans and modifies it for transfer. While scanning, Guinevere is able to archive important email, delete or strip harmful attachments, filter for offensive subject matter and even defer attachments too large for prime time network activity. By scanning all emails, Guinevere stops spam and viruses before they get to your Post Office and prevents viruses from entering or leaving your network. Anti-Spam Technology
Guinevere utilizes a number of different tools in performing its many functions. It integrates Spam Assassin under a GUI interface in order to eliminate potentially harmful or annoying spam. The eliminated spam is redirected to an automatically formatted folder where you can review if desired. The spam scanning capabilities of Guinevere are automatically updated through its auto rule learning. Guinevere holds possible spam while sending a "challenge" message to the sender. Upon receiving authentication from the sender, the message is released to the end user. End users receive a Digest Notification summarizing all email stopped as spam. Using the End User Release Tool, end users can automatically release blocked messages without contacting their GroupWise administrator.
Anti-Virus Technology
Guinevere has the technology and ability to monitor and clean attachments while also acting as an anti-virus weapon. Guinevere's attachment cleaning mechanism allows Guinevere to delete, strip, clean and warn of any virus containing attachments. This feature on Guinevere integrates with almost any anti-virus program including McAfee, Symantec, Trend, etc. Guinevere deploys easy-to-use wizards for quick virus engine deployment.
